My Approach

My passion for psychology started with an intense interest in human behavior, why do we do the things we do. Throughout my studies, I have taken a holistic perspective to treatment. I believe that each human system influences how we react and behave in any given moment. How we think (neurology) influence how we feel (emotions) which, in turn, influences how we act (behavioral). I take a positive humanistic approach that is individually tailored to you and your goals for therapy.

My foundation is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis in trauma-informed care. CBT can help with a variety of problems by teaching you how to manage powerful emotions like anger, fear, or sadness. The approach can help you deal with grief and loss, manage symptoms and prevent mental illness relapses and improve communication skills. Depending on the issue you’re dealing with and your goals, together we will develop a treatment plan that will help you achieve your best life.

Trauma-Focused Therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

This type of therapy is rooted in understanding the connection between the trauma experience and your emotional and behavioral responses. The purpose of trauma-focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist you in better understanding, coping with,  processing emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences, with the end goal of enabling you to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experiences that have happened in your life.
